Sean Rooks, a former NBA center who had just interviewed for an assistant coaching position with the New York Knicks, died Tuesday at a restaurant in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
Rooks had worked as an assistant coach with that team for two years prior to his passing & From 1992-2004, Sean played overseas in Spain, and since 2014, he’s been the Philadelphia 76ers’ assistant coach for player development.
His cause of death remains unknowns at this time .
The 46-year-old’s death was first reported by TMZ, then confirmed by his own mother with a heartbreaking statement. “It is with deep sadness and overwhelming grief that we morn the sudden loss of my son, Sean,” she wrote. “Our family asks that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this incredible difficult time .
